Some Key Information for Our Camper Trailer Hire Cairns

Tow Camper Hire Cairns

Towing and Handling

Our camper trailer offers more flexibility when it comes to towing and handling, when compared to our offroad caravan. The camper trailer is significantly lighter, weighing in at around 1,200kg, so your vehicle must have a minimum braked towing capacity of 1,500kg. If you already have an electric brake controller on your towing vehicle, like the REDARC Tow-Pro Elite, then that is great. If you do not, we can rent you a portable unit that works via a smartphone app. It is preferable that you have some kind of towing experience, but if you are unsure or uncertain then take advantage of our delivery service.

Complete Camper Hire Cairns

We Provide A Delivery Service

Not everyone wants to tow, which is why we offer a delivery service within a 200km radius of Freshwater, Cairns. This service is especially useful for those camping with friends who don’t have their own setup. Popular delivery destinations include local caravan parks across Cairns and the beaches, and campsites across the Tablelands and Cassowary Coast. When you choose this option, we’ll arrive ahead of you to set up the camper, ensuring everything is ready when you arrive. The delivery service is in addition to the rental costs, to cover our time and fuel costs.

Camper Lounge

Accommodation and Features

Our camper trailer is ideal for solo adventurers, couples and families with younger children. It features a queen-sized bed with a dual-density foam mattress, and a convertible lounge area, which can have bench seating and table, or double-mattress sleeping area for kids. Please note: While setting up the camper trailer isn’t physically demanding, it requires a certain level of fitness and flexibility to extend the interior poles. Access is via a short set of stairs, so mobility is necessary.

Cape York Camper Hire

Travel Recommendations

Our camper trailer hire Cairns is ready to roll for all kinds of camping adventures, on and offroad. The trailer has high clearance and a tough, fully welded and baked enamel exterior, which makes it tough enough for bucket list trips to the Tip, as well as lakeside adventures on the Tablelands or beachside escapes. Its light tow weight means you do not need a 4WD to take it (you will need a 4WD if you plan on heading up Cape York Peninsula). We also recommend you have some camping experience prior to heading to remote locations. We will ask your travel plans / destinations during the booking process.

Camping at Porcupine Gorge

Best Times to Travel

The busy time for our camper trailer hire Cairns is between late April and late October, when the nights are cooler and the days are warm, but not hot. The Easter long weekend and school holidays are especially busy, so early booking is crucial. Our camper is equipped for both powered and unpowered sites with an off-grid capable battery system and solar panel.

Can we take our dog? Our border collie loves camping almost as much as us – so for puppy parents, ‘yes’ you can take your pooch along on your camping adventures in our camper trailer. The trailer has a door at the top of the stairs which helps to keep pets secure at night, but please don’t leave them unattended in the trailer. Also, please note not all destinations are pet-friendly, especially National Parks, so plan accordingly. If towing isn’t your thing, we can deliver and set up our camper trailer hire Cairns for you. Terms and conditions apply, with a minimum 3 night hire. Check our listing on Camplify for more information.

Adventures Await: Book Our Camper Trailer Hire Cairns And Go

Book our camper trailer hire Cairns and embark on your next adventure. This one is easy to tow and ready to go, whether that’s up the long red Peninsula Developmental Road to Pajinka (Tip of Australia) or to a serene beachside caravan park in the local area, it can do it all with ease. We’ve taken it on trips to the Tablelands and Gulf Savannah and to get you inspired, some favorite destinations are listed below. For more information or with any queries, contact Richard on 0410 510 214 or richard@tropicaltrailblazers.com.au Or head over to Camplify and make your booking now.

Chilli Beach

Tip of Australia

We’ve done this trip and it was epic, in fact writing this text has inspired us to do it all again, with planning now underway. The Tip of Australia, also called Pajinka, is a bucket-list adventure with highlights including Lakefield National Park, Chilli Beach, Weipa, Fruit Bat Falls, Elliot Falls and Punsand Bay Cape York Camping for beachfront camping. When you choose our camper trailer hire Cairns you can go to all of these places and more. Don’t think. Just do it.

Coloured Sands Elim

Elim Beach and the Coloured Sands

Have you heard about this awesome place? Elim Beach, which is around 1.5 hours drive north of Cooktown via Hopevale, is a stunning destination for beach and sand driving. The coloured sand dunes are just beautiful and you can climb up them for spectacular views, and then run down the sand blow to the beach. Take the 4WD inland track to Cape Bedford for more beach driving and stunning scenery. Book ahead to stay at Elim Beach Camping (Eddie’s Camp), which offers basic amenities and the perfect location to enjoy this destination. Top tip – arrive early to get a beachfront site.

Winton’s Age of Dinosaurs

The Dinosaur Trail, Including Winton

Take the road less travelled from Cairns to the Dinosaur Trail, including Winton. We did this one in 2023 and were so impressed with the people, places and quality of attractions included on the Dinosaur Trail. A highlight for us was most definitely Winton, with its starry night sky, Age of Dinosaurs and Lark Quarry Dinosaur Stampede. We stayed at the Winton Wanderers Caravan Park, which is slightly out of town and offers new drive-through sites and modern amenities, perfect for stargazing. Coming in a close second was Richmond and its Kronosaurus Corner, home to the largest collection of Australian marine dinosaur fossils.

Cobbold

Cobbold Gorge and Cobbold Village

There’s lots of things to do at Cobbold Gorge and Cobbold Village; we love it out there and so does everyone else who goes. The gorge itself is stunning and you can explore it on guided tours, which include boat rides, a glass bridge and stand-up paddleboarding. Cobbold Village, where you’ll stay in the camper trailer, has a licensed bar and bistro, infinity pool, walking tracks and a dam with kayaks for guest use. Located about six hours from Cairns, Cobbold Village is accessible without a 4WD and we recommend booking a powered ensuite site for privacy and comfort.

Chillagoe Caves

Chillagoe and the Limestone Caves

Chillagoe is 140km from Mareeba and offers visitors a rich historical experience. Explore limestone caves and karsts, which are remnants of an ancient inland sea, on Ranger guided tours. Visit the smelter ruins, a site of a significant mining disaster, and check out the rock art in the local area. There’s a few places you can stay in Chillagoe with our camper trailer hire Cairns, we recommend the Chillagoe Observatory and Eco Lodge. It is back from the road, has well maintained amenities and shaded camp sites and weather permitting, have a night sky observatory tour.

Talaroo Hot Springs

Talaroo Hot Springs

Talaroo Hot Springs is located in the Gulf Savannah, between Mount Surprise and Georgetown. You can visit their natural hot springs and learn about the geological and cultural significance of the area on a guided tour, which is run by the Traditional Owners. The tours include time spent at the thermal swimming pool and you can also book a private, soaking pool session. In addition to the hot springs, the Talaroo camping area is large and well maintained. It’s amenities are in excellent condition and includes a camp kitchen, with fridge / freezer and BBQs, toilets and showers and a saltwater swimming pool. Located near the Einasleigh River, it’s an ideal spot to take our camper trailer hire Cairns for a ride. No 4WD is required.

Innot Hot Springs Camper Hire

Innot Hot Springs

Innot Hot Springs is the closest thermal springs to Cairns (about a 2 hour drive), and much loved locals destination. It has 6 thermal pools of varying temperatures, where you can relax and rejuvenate in the warm mineral rich waters. Nettle Creek, which is the source of the thermal waters, is also accessible and just a short walk from the caravan park. The Innot Hot Springs Caravan and Leisure Park offers shaded campsites with both powered and unpowered options. This spot has been attracting visitors for over 100 years and is just another place you can take our camper trailer hire Cairns.

Downfall Creek Lake Tinaroo

The Tablelands and its Lakes

The Tablelands offers a cool change from coastal Cairns and is another destination which ranks highly on the locals list of, places to go camping. Lake Tinaroo is by far the largest lake in the area and has many campgrounds and campsites, located at various areas around its banks. We’ve been camping at Downfall Creek and Fong On Bay and will continue to explore the places to camp around the Lake in coming months. Please note most of the campsites are located in the Danbulla National Park and State Forest, which means you can not take your dog with you, and the amenities are basic. For pet-friendly options, Genazzano Retreat and Lake Tinaroo Holiday Park are great choices.

Etty Bay Camping

Mission Beach and Etty Bay

Mission Beach and Etty Bay are located in the Cassowary Coast area and offer higher than average chances of seeing a Southern Cassowary in the wild. This is particularly the case with Etty Bay, where cassowaries are regularly seen walking on the beach and through the campground. For this reason, Etty Bay is not pet friendly. However, there are lots of camping sites and campgrounds around Mission Beach where you can take your dog with you and the beaches are amazing.

Ellis Beach Campground

Local Caravan Parks

Cairns and far north Queensland has a lot of award-winning caravan parks. Popular spots include BIG4 Ingenia Holidays Cairns Coconut Resort in Woree and BIG4 Port Douglas Glengarry Holiday Park, which are family-friendly with numerous activities. For a coastal escape, NRMA Palm Cove Holiday Park is ideal, offering camping, fishing and beach walks. Ellis Beach provides a relaxed vibe with beachfront sites (book early). For rainforest camping, Cairns Crystal Cascades Holiday Park offers a refreshing spot for safe swimming.

Questions About Our Camper Trailer Hire Cairns

How easy is it to tow?

If you have prior towing experience, you’ll find this compact camper incredibly manageable. We added it to our fleet for its lightweight design, which can be towed by a range of vehicles – you do not need a 4WD for this one (see next question for what vehicles can tow our hire camper trailer Cairns). Some towing knowledge is preferred, for your safety and that of the camper trailer.
