Camper Trailer – Handover Information

Thank you for your booking, we just know you will have an amazing time with our Austrack Telegraph Lite Camper Trailer. To ensure you spend more time relaxing and less time ‘figuring out how it all works’, we’ve prepared some helpful handover information. It includes some action items and considerations for before you pick the camper trailer up, instructional videos, and notes for your trip and planning.

By taking the time to review this material prior to collecting the camper trailer, we can streamline the handover process, which will get you out on the road and into your adventures, just that bit quicker.

As the time for your camping adventure gets closer, we will be in touch to arrange a mutually convenient time for you to pick the camper trailer up, and for us to complete the handover process. Please note handover can take some time, pending your experience with camper trailers and any questions you might have, but by following the below, the handover should be quick and easy.

Before you pick up the camper trailer

  1. We have downloaded and consolidated several instructional videos from the camper trailer manufacturer for you to watch. This video is around 17 minutes long and covers everything you need to know about setting up and packing down the camper, including the outdoor awning. It is a requirement for you to watch this, before you pick up the camper trailer.  This will make your camping far more enjoyable, as you will already know how most of the setup works.
  2. In conjunction with your rental, we will provide you with a tow tongue and tow pin, allowing you to connect the camper trailer to your vehicle. It is important to check you can remove your existing tow tongue prior to pick-up, so you can use ours. To streamline the process, it would be much appreciated if you can please send me a photo of your towing vehicle and its tow hitch, this will enable us to check that we have the correct connections for your vehicle.
  3. If you are needing to use our elecbrakes brake controller – https://www.elecbrakes.com you will need to download the elecbrake app to your phone, prior to arriving for pick up.
  4. Bedding and camper trailer configuration. As per our listing information, we can configure the interior of the camper trailer to suit your needs. It can either be a Queen bed with internal lounge and table seating, or a Queen bed with double bed for children. If you opt for the family configuration, we remove the internal lounge and cushions and replace with a double mattress for maximum comfort for the kids. This does make the internal lounge area unusable for seating, however we do include an outside table and camp chairs with the rental.

On the day you pick up the camper trailer

We will arrange a mutually convenient time for delivery and handover. Please note the camper is permanently stored in our garage at home; address details will be provided closer to the time. During handover, we will show the following:

  • How to open, setup and close the camper;
  • How to charge the camper if applicable;
  • How to use the kitchen;
  • How to use the fridge / freezer;
  • Show you where we store the kitchen equipment;
  • Show you the location of the fire extinguisher and first aid kit;
  • Show you how to hookup the camper, setup the electric brakes and give you some tips on towing the camper.

We can also discuss how to setup the awning / gazebo. If you opt to take the awning, the instructional video above shows you how to set this up once you arrive at your destination.

On the day of pick up, we also need to complete the Camplify handover process. In conjunction with this, we require you to bring your drivers license with you. It is important to note we need the person who made the booking to be present at the handover, as we cannot handover the van to another person as per the Camplify hire terms and insurance requirements. For example, if Julie Johnston made the booking – Richard Johnston cannot pick up the camper. It is possible to add additional drivers to the booking, but only once the primary hirer has presented their drivers license.

While you are away

We are more than happy for you to call us when you are away, if you have any issues or questions. We understand this could be your first time renting a camper trailer, and as such we try our best to give you all the information you need during handover. Despite this, you may still find yourself stuck and needing assistance. Of course you could be hundreds of kilometers away from us at this stage which makes our physical attendance untenable, but, we will do our best to try help you overcome any issue you may have. You can call Richard on 0410 510 214 (if we do not answer please leave a message).

Returning the camper trailer

We require the camper trailer to be returned to us in a clean manner. While it may be impossible to clean the camper to exact level as when you picked it up, we do require you to clean the kitchen, pans, pots and cutlery. Also, if you have been offroad, please clean the exterior of the camper trailer to remove dust. Please note the linen does not need to be cleaned, we will do this for you.

Things you may need to take

While we provide pretty much all you need for your camping adventure, there are a few things you may want to take with you which are detailed below.

  • Head Torches – we do not supply these; these are very handy at night.
  • Extra Blankets – we supply coverlets for the beds, if you are traveling in winter, please take a few extra blankets as it can get cold at night. Also to maximise your comfort, you are welcome to take additional pillows / your preferred pillows. We provide 2 pillows for the Queen bed / lounge configuration and 4 pillows for the Queen bed / double bed configuration.
  • An esky – The camper trailer’s fridge / freezer is 60 litres, you can find its specs and more information on the Evakool site. We use the fridge / freezer for our food and take an esky to keep drinks cold. Block ice is great for the esky, as it lasts ages. The less you open the fridge the better your energy consumption will be, which is especially important if you are traveling off-grid.

Energy Considerations

The camper trailer is lightweight and has one 120amp battery. With proper energy management, combined with the solar panel use, you should be able to generate enough power to keep the battery topped up during your trip without mains power.

Saying this, we have fitted the camper trailer with a 240-volt input and a battery charger and do recommend staying (where possible) at powered camping sites. This means you can plug the camper trailer into mains power and not have to worry about your batteries. Powered sites at places like Cobbold Gorge and other caravan parks are only fractionally more expensive than unpowered sites, and are worth the few extra dollars per night.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and watch the video. Keep a note of this link, as the video might come in handy during your trip – if you have any set up queries. If you have any queries, you can contact Richard on 0410 510 214 or richard@tropicaltrailblazers.com.au – or ask us on handover day. We look forward to meeting you.
